Lorraine Conard at Bele Chere 2012!!

I'm so excited to let you know that I've been selected to play at the 34th Annual Bele Chere music and arts festival in Asheville North Carolina.

Playing with me will be Ray Chesna (arch-top guitar, a 40-year music veteran and incredible picker!), Jack Devereaux (fiddle, in his last semester at Berklee College of Music), Greg Kidd (super-fly bass man), and Lee Kram (anther 40-year music veteran and tasteful drummer/percussionist).

Here's a bit of info from the Bele Chere website to bring you up to speed on this amazing festival:

The Lowdown
“Bele Chere” means beautiful living. That’s what you’ll find in Asheville at the largest FREE arts and music street festival in the Southeast. Great art, music, food, and beer come to the streets of downtown Asheville each summer. Discover a cool new band, find the perfect piece of art, sample some local cuisine, enjoy a microbrew – find your own way to celebrate Bele Chere.

Some Background
The festival began in 1979 as a collaboration between the merchants that populated downtown Asheville. Their vision was to revitalize the downtown business district, which was hurting. They realized their vision in the form of a street festival. The name Bele Chere was chosen. The name derives from an ancient Scottish dialect that means Beautiful Living. Over the past 34 years, downtown Asheville has returned as the main attraction and epicentre for our local restaurants, galleries, clothing stores, theatres, and art exhibits. Asheville’s downtown is now the envy of cities from around the nation.
